Ghanaian boxer, Sena Agbeko, says he was surprised his upcoming bout against David Morrell was on the undercard of Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia bill.
He stated this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports ahead of the WBA Super middleweight title fight against 25 year old Cuban southpaw Morrell on April 22.
The bout takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas prior to the long-awaited clash between Davis and Garcia.
While Agbeko, nicknamed “The African Assassin” wasn’t surprised the bout was put together, he was quite shocked his first world title shot landed on the high profile night of boxing.
“There had been talks of the fight [against Morrell] earlier this year but there was nothing concrete. If there is anything I am more surprised about, it’s the fact that it was put on the Ryan Garcia-Gervonta Davis card. That’s the only surprise.”
Agbeko has 27 wins and two losses in his pro career while Morrell has eight wins in eight professional bouts on the back of an accomplished amateur career.
