Conf. League: Ashimeru scores debut European goal in Anderlecht win

Black Stars midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has registered his debut goal in a European competition game as Belgian side RSC Anderlecht secured a 2-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The win gives Anderlecht a healthy lead ahead of the second leg due to take place in the Netherlands on Thursday, April 20.

Ashimeru scored Anderlecht’s second goal in the 70th minute after left full back Michael Murillo connected his head to a cross to direct the ball into the net in the 22nd minute.

The Ghanaian midfielder controlled a cross from Francis Amuzu from the left side before smashing the ball into the bottom right corner to give Anderlecht the cushioned lead.

The goal capped off a strong performance from the Belgian side in the lead up to its matchup against Jupiler Pro League table toppers Genk on Sunday, April 16.
