“Chris Hughton can’t be manipulated” – Samuel Oduro Nyarko

Former Ghana Football Executive Council Member, Samuel Oduro Nyarko, believes it will be difficult for persons working with the FA to influence new Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton.

His comment is in response to several accusations leveled against the Ghana FA that it interferes in the work of various coaches who are in charge of the national team.

Hughton replaced Otto Addo as the new trainer and has led Ghana to 4 points in his first two games in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Oduro Nyarko believes it will be difficult to influence the work of the former Brighton boss due to his rich experience and pedigree in the game.

“Hughton is the man who cannot be manipulated; he is good. I think that he is the one who will stick to his guns and not allow himself to be manipulated. That makes him a good coach, coupled with his experience in the English premier league.”

“It  (the Black Stars) is a young team and the possibility to lead this team to success is glaring.”

The 64-year-old Chris Hughton worked with the national team as technical advisor during the World Cup play-off against Nigeria and was part of the team at the tournament in Qatar.

Ghana exited the global tournament in the group stages following losses to Portugal and Uruguay, with the only win coming against South Korea.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion boss is on the verge of qualifying the country to the 2024 AFCON slated for Cote D’Ivoire next year January.

Ghana sits at the summit of Group E with eight points – with the final two games in the qualifiers against Madagascar and Central African Republic slated for the September international break.
