The Ghana Football Association (GFA) launched its foundation “GFA Cares” at the association’s headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, April 18 2023.

The Foundation is to provide support to current footballers and retired footballers, and will also aid some people who are not within the football fraternity.

The event was graced by the notable dignitaries including GFA President Kurt Okraku, General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum and ex-Black Stars player, Odartey Lamptey.

A five-member Board, chaired by Daniel Awuah Darko, was inaugurated at the event to regulate the activities of the Foundation.

Other members of the Board include Mr Issac Osei Yeboah, who will serve as the Vice President of the Foundation, Madam Silvia Owusu Ankomah, Frederick Achempong, Nii Odartey Lamptey and Malcolm Fraser Appiadu, the Foundation’s Director.

Speaking at the event, the President of the GFA, Kurt Okraku took the opportunity to express his excitement.

“I am proud to be associated with this day. I am proud to announce that the project that has been on the cards for so long, the project we’ve been waiting for to continue our contributions towards society, has finally been launched,” he said.

The hashtag #GFACares was motioned as the go-to social media tag to boost visibility of interactions about the foundation.
