Executive Council Member for the Ghana Football Association, Dr. Randy Abbey has revealed that government and the Association are enthusiastic about providing Black Stars Head Coach Chris Hughton with all the necessary resources to help him succeed in his role.

The Former Brighton & Hove Albion coach has guided the national team to four points out of six in his first two games in charge of the team in the doubleheader of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against the Black Antelopes of Angola.

Speaking to Citi Sports in an exclusive interview, Randy Abbey believes Hughton has started his tenure on a positive note and is confident with hard work, the team will see major improvement.

“I think it is a good start, I think he is pressing the right notes.”

“I mean overall, when I read around and listen around, I get the impression that people really like the way he is going about his work.”

“We have been with him for some time now so, and we have no doubt about his abilities and his qualities as Head Coach.”

“The fact that the period he has been around as technical advisor has afforded him the opportunity to have a deeper insight into not just our football, our people, and the association.”

“I think that he is enormous information and a deeper understanding of the football eco-system of Ghana.

“And of course, he has the full cooperation of the FA.”

“We will make sure that we provide everything he wants, together with the government to make his work with us very successful.”

“I am impressed so far, we have started very well and we need to continue.”

Hughton’s next set of games in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers is slated for June against Madagascar and Central African Republic.

The Black Stars currently sit at the top of Group E with 8 points following a 1-0 win against Angola in the first leg encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and a one-all draw back in Luanda in the reverse fixture.
