Jordan Ayew dedicates brace against Leeds Utd to former boss Patrick Vieira

Black Stars & Crystal Palace forward, Jordan Ayew has dedicated his two goals against Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday to former manager, Patrick Vieira.

The 31-year-old has now scored just three goals this season, with his last goal prior to this weekend for club and country coming in December against Bournemouth in the English Premier League.

According to Ayew, he is happy to get back on the score sheet for his club after struggling to find the back of the net this campaign.

“It is the Premier League and you are playing against the good sides, so sometimes it is going to be difficult.”

“We always have to stick to the gameplan from Roy, try and help the team, stay in the shape, track my man, do the basic things basically in the game and afterwards you’re rewarded.”

“Since Roy came in, he is done a good job so far, allowed us to express ourselves and that is what we are doing.”

“Not to forget about what Patrick did for the club as well, I want to thank him as well for the amazing job he did here before.”

“It is a shame we lost him, but we thank him for everything he is done for us during that time.”

Before Roy Hodgson took over, Ayew had been struggling to make an impact under Patrick Vieira, having only registered one goal and one assist in 28 Premier League appearances this season.

However, Hodgson’s return seems to have provided Ayew with a new lease of life.

In the two games since Hodgson’s arrival, Ayew has already surpassed his season tally with two goals and one assist, which is a significant improvement for the Ghanaian forward.

This is also the first time this season the Ghanaian striker has contributed to goals in back-to-back games, indicating that he is finding his form at the appropriate time.
