The event sees 9 countries in the West African sub region go against each other for the bragging rights in the sub region and a chance to qualify for the African Table Tennis Championships scheduled for September in Tunisia.

Speaking after the opening ceremony The President of Ghana Table Tennis Association Mawuko Afadzinu was excited about the competition commencing and spoke about Ghana’s chances at this year’s edition.

“This day is massive I mean if you look at the energy in the hall. The hall is filled up, this is table tennis and it speaks to the latent passion we have been able to ignite” he said.

“Defeating Ivory Coast in the men’s team game in the first match is a significant statement it gives us a clear path to possibly get to the finals and start playing for the silver”

“We hope that the next matches pick up and we maintain that same trajectory” he added

The West African regional table tennis championship end on the 27th of April 2023.
