Accra Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways as they scored two late goals to beat King Faisal 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The 2020/2021 champions had to wait till the 89th and 92nd minutes following a drab first-half display to claim all three points through Salifu Ibrahim who climbed off the bench, and Linda Mtange, who added a second for the Phobians.
Both sides went into the clash having failed to win their two previous games while the Phobians targeted an opportunity to get back into the top four after the embarrassing defeat at the hands of Tamale City at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
The win currently puts the Phobians in fourth position on the league standings with 45 points.
The Phobians hope to maintain this form when they come up against Samartex FC at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex next Saturday, May 6.
Ignatius Osei Fosu’s side are now on a three-game winless streak in the premier league, with their next fixture against in-form Tamale City at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
Elsewhere in Kumasi, reigning champions Asante Kotoko played out a 1-1 draw with Tamale City in their betPawa Premier League match at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors returned to their favorite grounds looking to restore some pride after the patchy result against Accra Great Olympics in midweek but the Tamale lads snatched a point in frantic encounter.
Asante Kotoko are now 5th on the League table – 7 points behind leaders Aduana FC while Tamale City move to 15th place – level on points with 16th-placed King Faisal.
