Premier league title contenders Medeama Sporting Club took former Champions Accra Hearts of Oak to the cleaners in the match week 31 fixture of the betpawa premier league at the Accra Sports Stadium, ending in a 5-1 annihilation.

The Phobians displayed a subpar performance in the first half against the Mauves & Yellows, showing no sign of intensity, purpose and drive in the first 10 minutes of play.

Derrick Fordjour opened the scoring in the 17th minute of the match to put the Yellow and Mauves in the lead with a nice finish.

One minute after the half hour mark, Hearts were awarded a spot kick following a foul on defender Caleb Amankwah which was converted by Ibrahim Salifu to draw parity for the Phobians.

Three minutes later, Former Hearts of Oak defender Vincent Atingah converted from the spot kick to put the visitors 2-1 on 35th minute mark, restoring their lead with a cool finish.

Jonathan Mensah Sowah scored the third goal to make it 3-1 before the break.

Jonathan Sowah, on the 85th minute grabbed his brace before Kwesi Donsu added the fifth taking the tally to 5 on the day.

Medeama SC, now sit at the summit of the league table after 31 matches with 53 points and will face King Faisal in their next home game.

Accra Hearts of Oak take on Legon Cities next at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in the matchweek 32 fixture.
