Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has handed in form forward Ernest Nuamah a debut Black Stars call up for the team’s upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifier against Madagascar.

Ghana leads the Group E standings with eight points and are a point ahead of second ranked Central African Republic.

Angola and Madagascar rank third and fourth respectively in the group.

The list of players for the crucial game was released today by the veteran trainer with the list spotting familiar names from previous call ups.

Nuamah was part of four forwards called up by Hughton alongside captain Andre Ayew of Nottingham Forest, Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao and Kwasi Okyere Wriedt of Bundesliga 2 side Holstein Kiel.

Nuamah has been in sensational form this season scoring 15 goals while adding four assists in 33 games across all competitions.

He scored his 15th goal of the 2022-2023 season in Nordsjaelland’s 1-5 loss to Brondby while playing out the entire duration of the Superligaen Championship Round contest in the Danish Super League.

Defender Nicholas Opoku who is on loan from Udinese at French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC was called up after making a late entry into the Black Stars game against Angola in Luanda in the last round of 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
