Poor officiating played a role in our relegation – Linford Asamoah Boadu on Kotoku Royals

Chief Executive Officer for Kotoku Royals, Linford Asamoah Boadu believes vital lessons have been picked following the Club’s relegation from Ghana’s top-flight league to the division one league in their maiden season.

The Royals suffered another setback at the hands of Great Olympics in Sogakope cementing their exit from the league.

With four matches left to be played, Kotoku Royals are 15 points adrift of safety on the table.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Linford Asamoah Boadu pointed out some flaws to be corrected if they are to bounce back into Ghana’s top-flight league.

I think I have learnt a lot of lessons, I mean it is a different terrain, the premier league is a different terrain.

As a debutant, unlike other clubs, they know how to operate in the Ghana premier league.

I have been to several venues and I have been to some interesting places, officiating has not been the best, I know there are some officiating decisions against our club which did not help our season.

We did the right thing, by writing to the GFA for the right thing to be done with regards to the poor officiating on the part of match officials.

I believe that most of the referees we lodge complaints about have been sanctioned, but is not out there in the public domain.

The Akyem Oda-based side suffered from their inability to complete their home venue- forcing the club to adopt the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Playing away from home may have accounted for their early exit from the top-flight after promises made to the club were unfulfilled.

The Royals juggled between two home venues after adopting the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu during the latter stages of the season.

They were unbeaten in Dawu – holding out a remarkable 1-1 draw against league leaders Aduana FC.

They currently lie rock-bottom with 23 points from 30 games with four games to spare.
