Black Stars and Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey says he is excited about the opportunity to play in the Europa League next season.
The Seagulls under Italian tactician Roberto de Zerbi enjoyed a stellar season amassing 62 points which earned them a 6th place finish.
This means Brighton will be participating in Europe for the first time in their history as placing 6th lands them in the Europa League group stages.
Speaking to Citi Sports in an exclusive interview Lamptey admitted he and his teammates are looking forward to testing themselves on a bigger stage.
“We’ve had a really good season the boys have done fantastic throughout the season and we’ve worked very hard through different challenges that we’ve had” he said
“We just trying to buy into what the gaffer has to say and I think you’ve seen the results on the pitch now we are playing in Europe for the first time in the club history next season in the Europa League so it should be amazing and I think we’re all looking forward to it” he added
Lamptey made his debut appearance for Ghana on 23 September in a 3–0 friendly loss against Brazil at the Stade Océane in Le Havre.
Lamptey was also a member of Ghana’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
