Conceding many goals in the first round cost us a place in Ghana League – Kotoku PRO

Public Relations Officer of Akyem Kotoku Royals Rush Football Club, Okatakyie Afrifa, has blamed a leaky defense early on in the season for the team’s demotion from the Betpawa Ghana League.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports as his side readies itself for a quick return to Division One after only gaining promotion to the top flight a season ago.

Kotoku ranks bottom of the 18-team league standings and is officially relegated after winning just six of 32 games, with two more games left to play in the 2022-2023 season.

“It all started in the first round, doing a lot of calculations…the first round goals were higher than the goals we conceded in in the second round, so that is where the problem lies. So we will do other pluses and minuses to make sure that Kotoku Royals will back bounce to the top level,” he said.

Kotoku has scheduled games against relegation-threatened Tamale City FC and Karela United in the final round of league games to play.
