Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton has made a substitution in the team for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Madagascar.
Kasim Adams has been called up to replace Alexander Djiku, who sustained an ankle injury and had to withdraw from the Ghana squad initially selected for the fifth round of the AFCON qualifier.
Adams, a centre-back for Hoffenheim, brings a wealth of experience to the team. He had an impressive season on loan at FC Basel in Switzerland, where he made a significant impact. With 11 appearances for Ghana since his debut in 2017, the 27-year-old defender has proven his value.
Adams has showcased his skills in the Swiss Super League, featuring in 28 matches for Basel and contributing with a goal and an assist. Additionally, he has participated in 11 games in the UEFA Europa Conference League, including a memorable extra-time winner against Nice, which propelled Basel to the semifinals.
He has made 46 appearances across various competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
The Black Stars will gather in Accra on Monday, June 12, to commence their preparations for the Madagascar qualifier.
The match is scheduled in Antananarivo on Sunday, July 18, 2023.
