The 12th Africa Armwrestling Championship kicked off on Friday, June 23, at the GNAT Hall in Accra, with host nation Ghana making an impressive start.

After the first day of intense competition, Ghana sits at the top of the medal table, amassing a remarkable total of 62 medals.

This impressive haul includes 17 Gold medals, 26 Silver medals, and 19 Bronze medals.

However, Ghana’s team, known as the “Golden Arms faces stiff competition from other nations vying for the top spot.

Egypt, Nigeria, and Mali have also made their presence felt, securing commendable positions in the top four of the medal table after the first day of competition.

The Africa Armwrestling Championship, a three-day event, will continue until Sunday, June 25, 2023.

The championship serves as the qualifying event for the highly anticipated 2023 Africa Games and the World Combat Games, scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia.

Ghana has the honour of hosting the Africa Armwrestling Championship for the second time, following the success of the 2018 edition.
