Golden Boy Promotions owner, Oscar De La Hoya has had a fiery clash on Twitter with former lightweight top contender, Ryan Garcia.
Garcia, who fights on the books of Golden Boy, slammed the De La Hoya-led company for its lack of support in the aftermath of Garcia’s high-profile fight against Gervonta Davis. Garcia lost the fight via a seventh round technical knockout.
Nicknamed King Ry, Garcia called out Golden Boy in an interview indicating Gervonta’s team showed more support to him than his promotion company did.
This prompted former Olympic gold medalist De La Hoya to respond stating: “It’s been almost two months and you’re still crying about the post presser on Twitter.
The two went back and forth, prompting many to believe Garcia’s days with Golden Boy are numbered and he could end up leaving the company the same way Canelo Alvarez did after falling out with De La Hoya.
Garcia also thrashed De La Hoya’s suggestion of scheduling a fight between him and former multi division champion Manny Pacquiao.
Ryan Garcia realized his entire team betrayed him after his loss to Gervonta Davis 😳
