[TRENDING]: Chris Hughton draws ire after Black Stars goalless draw with Madagascar

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has taken the brunt of criticism by Ghanaian fans following Ghana’s goalless draw with Madagascar.

Ghana failed to get on the score sheet in a largely listless performance against the island nation in the 2023 AFCON qualifier. Ghana registered just two shots on target in the game.

A cross section of Black Stars fans took to social media to register their displeasure over the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager’s apparent lack of tactical adjustments and odd player selections.

For starters, Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Mohammed Kudus was dropped from the starting lineup despite being one of the best players of the national team over the past year.

Kudus was introduced in the 79th minute as a replacement for Jordan Ayew and instantly provided a jolt to Ghana’s lackluster attacking play in his brief time on the pitch.

Others raised concerns over Black Stars Captain Andre Ayew playing out the entire duration of the game though his performance left much to be desired.

Hughton’s tactical game was questioned with some comparing him to former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.

We blamed Otto Addo for some of the piss-poor football we were playing. We should have known that Chris Hughton had a hand in the nonsense we were showcasing.

We understand Dede Ayew is “clubless” and needs a few games to attract scouts but it shouldn’t be at the expense of a crucial AFCON qualification. Chris Hughton needs to be careful how he handles the Ayew brothers or he’ll be sacked.

Coaches we employ are tactically inept. Chris Hughton is no exception. We fell off big time. pic.twitter.com/uSd5FYbPuU
