Head coach of the Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko says the presence of Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton in camp is good for the team.
The former Newcastle gaffer joined the Black Meteors camp in Rabat ahead of Ghana’s opener against Congo to provide technical assistance to the team.
Ghana started the tournament on a good note with a 3-2 win over Congo courtesy of a goal from Ernest Nuamah and a brace by Club Cluj forward, Emmanuel Yeboah.
Speaking at the post-game, Tanko acknowledged the presence of Hughton and highlighted that it is a good audition ground for the players who aim to end up with the senior men’s national football team.
“We are happy to have him here.
He is with us in the hotel.
Definitely, we are speaking each day.
So, yes, he is the head of the senior national team.
These boys are playing to get there, so I am happy that he is here,” Tanko said after the game.
Ghana will play host nation, Morocco on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 8pm before ending the group stages with the game against Guinea.
