Assistant Coach for Ghana’s Black Meteors, Godwin Attram says the team is relishing the test of facing Congo in the first group game of the u-23 2023 AFCON on Sunday.

The U-23 AFCON commences on Saturday, June 24 in Rabat, Morocco, where Ghana will open its group campaign against the Congolese at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Sunday.

Speaking to Citi Sports, in an exclusive interview, Attram is confident the team will breeze past their group opponents and qualify for the Olympics.

“Playing against Congo is a do-and-die affair we must be able to take our three points that should be our qualifier because winning the first game is important, he said.

Then the second and third you focus and plan how you go about them but the first game is the one Ghana should duly win.
It’s very important”

“The other groups are not our problem for now we moving out of the prelims is the most important thing for the nation. So we have to do our best to win against Congo and plan towards the second and third game” he added

Ghana’s quest will be to clinch one of the three tickets for the Paris Olympic Games next year after missing out on the last edition in Tokyo.

The Black Meteors previous appearance at the Olympics is at the 2004 Athens Games in Greece.
