The Esposito family suffered a great deal this past weekend after recording not one, not two but three football heartbreaks.

Sebastiano Esposito, Francesco Esposito and Salvatore Esposito suffered major football losses with all three losses coming within mere hours of each other.

Salvatore played 83 minutes for Spezia in the 2022-2023 Serie A playoff game against Hellas Verona; Spezia lost 1-3 and got relegated from the Serie A. Ghana forward Emmanuel Gyasi was not in the match day squad for Spezia.

Younger brother Sebastiano’s Bari Sporting Club failed in its quest to qualify from Serie B to Serie A after losing 1-2 on aggregate to Cagliari. Veteran coach Claudio Ranieri is the head trainer of Cagliari.

At the FIFA Under 20 World Cup, Francesco Esposito played 35 minutes off the bench as Italy lost 0-1 to Uruguay in the final game of the biannual tournament.

It was a double whammy of misery for Francesco Esposito as his Inter Milan side lost 0-1 to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League final.
