Richard Ofori signs two year contract extension with Orlando Pirates

Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori has signed a contract extension with South African Premier Soccer League side Orlando Pirates.

In a shock move, the veteran shot stopper came to terms with the team to extend his stay when signs pointed to an exit earlier in the past campaign.

Ofori signed a two year deal with the second year being an optional year amid a flurry of signed deals by the Soweto giant.

Vincent Pule signed a three year deal with the third year being optional while Thabang Monare, Siyabonga Mpontshane and Ben Motswari signed deals that end in 2024.

29 year old Ofori, endured a very frustrating 2022-2023 season as he featured in just 13 games in all competitions while battling a serious knee injury despite winning the MTN 8 title.

Pirates finished second in the league with 54 points; Mamelodi Sundowns won the title after amassing 70 points.

Aside missing out on several games and virtually being on the way out, Ofori’s injury issues forced him to miss out on a call up to Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad.
