Ghana forward Ben Bentil has officially left Red Star Belgrade (Crvena Zvezda MTS) following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.

Bentil’s exit comes on the back of a campaign that had Red Star win the Serbian League and Serbian Cup but miss out on wining the more prestigious ABA League (Adriatic League) to bitter rival Partizan Belgrade in a best of five game series.

In the 85-96 loss to Partizan, Bentil climbed off the bench and registered 15 points, three assists, an assist and three rebounds in 22:49 minutes.

Like Bentil, John Holland, Hassan Martin, Stefan Markovic and Luka Vildoza have exited the team after their deals run out. Vildoza has since signed for Greek side Panathinaikos.

In his lone season at Red Star, the 6 foot 7 inch Bentil averaged 8.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 16.6 minutes across 29 games in the ABA League.

28 year old Bentil is a native of Sekondi and has won league titles in Italy and Greece at his prior European stops since becoming the first Ghana born player to get drafted into the NBA and play in the NBA.
