Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh has stated the reasons for the delay in starting the autonomous league in the wake of the league’s maiden season pegged for 2024-2025 season.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports in the face of several delays in rolling out the much awaited league format change that is heavily expected to improve the floundering fortunes of Ghanaian football clubs.
“We’ve given the way for clubs to sign up; either you bring your money or you ask the GFA to pay on your behalf and the clubs are interested in doing that and we have no doubts about that. We needed more time to be able to put all the administrative and legal structures in place.
It takes some time getting an office, recruiting staff, recruiting a CEO, starting a sponsorship drive, all will take some time that’s why we asked the EXCO [GFA Executive Council] to extend the start of the league to the 2024-2025 season.”
Dr. Baah-Nuakoh added fixtures for the 2024-2025 season have already been put together.
