Ashanti Regional Inter Schools Football: Jonathan Edwards shines in OKESS’ defeat in final

Jonathan Edwards, the talented winger from Mountaineers FC in Accra, illuminated the Ashanti Regional Inter Schools Football final game with his exceptional football skills, despite his team OKESS enduring a heartbreaking loss in the finals.

Edwards’ journey through the tournament was marked by consistent displays of brilliance on the field. At the preliminary matches held in Owass, he stood out, registering an impressive tally of three goals and two pivotal assists across just three matches, showcasing remarkable form.

Transitioning to the main stage at the Babayara sports stadium, Edwards’ star continued to rise. Over five matches, he contributed two goals and three assists, earning him a pair of well-deserved Man of the Match awards, one of which was bestowed upon him during the semi-finals.

In the intense semi-final clash between OKESS and OLAC, Edwards once again demonstrated his worth by securing a vital goal and setting up two more, aiding his team’s commanding 6-1 triumph. His exceptional showing secured him the MVP accolade for the semi-final encounter.

In the tense final match against Simms, the game concluded in a 1-1 draw, with Edwards underlining his skill and resolve by netting a crucial goal for OKESS.

Despite his efforts, OKESS couldn’t clinch victory within regulation time, leading the match to be decided by a penalty shootout.

While OKESS ultimately fell in the final match through penalties, Jonathan Edwards rightfully earned the distinction of being named the MVP of the final game, reinforcing his reputation as one of the standout players in the tournament.

As a first-year student at OKESS, Jonathan Edwards not only exhibited his exceptional talent but also displayed unwavering commitment and dedication to the sport, earning the admiration and respect of football enthusiasts throughout the region.
