The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is ready to host its fun-filled games on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

This event is part of its 50th Anniversary celebrations, themed “Sustainable and Inclusive Tourism Development: 50 Years and Beyond.”

The games will be held at the Ridge Church School Astroturf, located near the George Padmore Library.

Various organizations under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, along with private sector operators, will participate in these enjoyable games.

Among these organizations are the Ghana Tourism Development Company, Ghana Museum and Monument Board, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre, National Theatre of Ghana, Creative Arts Agency, Folklore Board, Bureau Of Ghana Languages, National Commission on Culture (NCC), Hotel, Catering and Hospitality Training Institute, National Film Authority, Pan African Writers Association of Ghana, Ghana Tourism Federation, Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA), Car Rentals Association of Ghana, Ghana Hotels Association, and the Ghana Progressive Hotels Association.

While speaking to the media at the draw for the football event on Thursday, August 17th, Deputy Chief Executive of the GTA, Ben Anane Nsiah, mentioned that these games aim to encourage stronger partnerships, collaborations, and friendly competition among sister agencies and private sector operators.

The GTA launched its 50th anniversary a couple of months ago and a series of activities have been lined up. Now, one of the things we want to do is this industry interaction, which we call the industry fun games.

Tourism is like that. It interfaces with many sectors and you realize that immigration and the police are all people we work with. But these games are mainly course on the private sector component of the industry, like our hotels, our tour raters, our car rentals, our event vendors, there are a whole lot of them.

And the agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, whose activities have a very strong bearing on what we do. I mean, the museums and all of them”.

The games will feature competitive activities such as soccer, table tennis, tug of war, lime and spoon races, sack races, scrabble, and a 50-meter dash race.

Additionally, non-competitive games like ludo, playing cards, bottle flipping, eating competitions, ampe, musical chairs, oware, draft, playing cards, and jenga will also be part of the event.
