On Wednesday, the 27th of September 2023, the attention of the Ghana football community will shift to the Northern Regional capital, Tamale.

This strategic move comes following a groundbreaking announcement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), that the city’s esteemed Redaach Memorial Hotel had been chosen as the venue for its highly anticipated 2023 Elections.

A statement directly from the GFA’s official website reads:

“The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has settled on the Redaach Memorial Hotel in Tamale for the Elective Congress on September 27, 2023.

The Congress, which starts at 9 am in the forenoon, will elect Executives to steer the affairs of the Ghana Football Association for the next four years.

The Agenda for the Congress is the election of the GFA President and Executive Council Members from Premier League, Division One League and Women’s Premier League.”

The countdown to the Congress has begun, as nominations opened on Monday, 7th August and will conclude promptly on Friday, 11th August 2023.

At the forefront of this electrifying contest, GFA President Kurt Okraku is seeking re-election for an extended four-year term.

His aspiration is met with formidable opposition from the former Vice President of the Association, George Afriyie.

Also stepping onto the playing field are Kojo Yankah, the former Chairman of the Western Region Football Association, and Bernard Amofa Jantuah, an esteemed official from Berekum Chelsea.
