Ghana forward Jordan Ayew is in red hot form as Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton prepares to name his squad reportedly later this week for the latest 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The Black Stars are set to play against Central African Republic (CAR) at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 7. Both nations need a win to progress to next year’s championship in Ivory Coast.
The must win qualifier comes at a time veteran forward Jordan Ayew has made a flying start to the 2023-2024 season for Crystal Palace.
Ayew registered his third assist in four games played this season as Crystal Palace came from behind to beat Plymouth Argyle 4-2 in the Carabao Cup.
Jordan came off the bench in the 55th minute for fellow Ghanaian Jesuran Rak-Sakyi and proceeded to assist French striker Odsonne Edouard’s goal in the 58th minute.
20 year old forward Rak-Sakyi, is an England Under 20 international but is still eligible to play for Ghana at the senior level through his Ghanaian parents.
Fellow Black Stars player Jeffrey Schlupp came off the bench in the 56th minute and assisted the first of Jean-Philippe Mateta’s hat trick in the 61st minute.
Unlike Jordan Ayew, Schlupp is unlikely to be called up for the Black Stars game against CAR after falling out with Ghana’s national team.
