The Ghana Tennis Federation is set to host its 2023 GTTA Masters, Seniors, and Celebs Challenge tournament on Friday, August 4th.
The one-day event will take place at the Trust Sports Emporium in Bukom.
Mawuko Afadzinu, the President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, expects tennis enthusiasts and fans of all ages to have a day filled with excitement and camaraderie.
The tournament is designed not only to showcase the players’ skills and talent but also to provide a space where everyone could reconnect with their roots.
Afadzinu told Citi Sports, “It’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s going to be we, relaxed. It’s going to be us getting back into our inner selves.
We will reconnect with what we used to do in the hood, on the streets, and in the neighborhood, doing it for a couple of hours, and it’s a complete package.”
To kick off the day, a coaching clinic has been arranged in the morning, allowing players to learn and improve their techniques.
Afadzinu explained, “So, in the morning, there will be a coaching clinic where we’ll move away from what we used to play, what we used to know, and we will be taught the fundamentals for those who are interested.
I mean, there will be table tennis robots there for people to play and exercise for 1 hour, and then the contest will start.
But before the contest, we will have some exhibition games, and then we’ll get into the action for the day.
So, it’s pure fun.”
