CAR head coach warns Ghana – Your next AFCON will be like the last one

Ghana captain Andre Ayew was sent off in the loss to Comoros.

Ghana’s Black Stars endured its worst campaign in the history of the CAF African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2021 by failing to win a game and crashed out at the group stage and according to Central African Republic (CAR) head coach Raoul Savoy, Ghana will suffer the same fate again.

He indicated this in his post game presser after his side lost 1-2 to Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium to miss out on qualification to the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.

Qualifying to next year’s continental championship would have been CAR’s first ever appearance at the tournament.

CAR finished third in Group E with seven points behind Ghana (12 points) and Angola (nine points); Ghana and Angola have qualified from the group.

Clearly not impressed by the Black Stars performance in the win over his team, Savoy stated, “Your next AFCON will be like the last one.”

Mohammed Kudus scored Ghana’s equalizer against CAR.

At the 2021 AFCON held in Cameroon, Ghana lost 2-3 to Comoros, lost 0-1 to Morocco and drew 1-1 with Gabon to finish bottom in Group C.
