Strength of Black Stars squad lies in its “balance”- Chris Hughton

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has identified the balance in his team as a strength in the lead up to the crucial 2023 AFCON qualifier against Central African Republic (CAR).

He said this in a pregame interview with Ghana set to take on CAR on Thursday, September 7 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi at 16:00 GMT.

The veteran coach pointed to the experience and youthfulness squad members bring to the Black Stars that balances out the team as Ghana needs a win or a draw to qualify to the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.

“You have to look at the strength of the squad that we have. I think it’s a good squad that we have.

It’s a good squad, it’s a good balance set of squad (with) a good balance of young players and experience…and we will have to pull on that experience in what will be a tough game and pull on that youthful qualities that some of the young players have.”

Ghana leads Group E with nine points and holds a two point lead over CAR in the lead up to the game.
