Head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton, says Ghana should be proud of his team finishing as winners of Group E in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

He said this in the post game press conference after Ghana beat Central African Republic (CAR) 2-1 to secure qualification to the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.

By beating CAR, Ghana finished top of Group E with 12 points ahead of second ranked Angola (nine points) with the Wild Beasts of CAR ranking third with seven points.

Despite finishing tops of the group, many Ghanaian fans aren’t happy about the team’s performances but Hughton isn’t worried about it but happy the Black Stars topped the group.

“We actually finished on top of our group so I think that’s something to be very proud of. It’s always about development. When I came here, I think we’ve had 10 new players introduced over the last year so it’s always a process.”
