Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil leads the way in the 2023-2024 Belgian Jupiler Pro League assist category with three counts to his name.
In the latest round of league games, Paintsil played a starring role in KRC Genk’s 3-3 draw with St. Truiden after going down 0-3 in the first half.
However, Genk mounted a comeback and Paintsil completed the comeback by scoring the third goal as he lasted the entire duration of the game.
Paintsil co-leads the assist chart with Xavier Mercer of RWD Molenbeek on the back of scoring his debut goal this season.
Genk ranks seventh in the 16 team league standings seven games into the Belgian top tier division’s regular season campaign.
Reacting to the comeback draw, Paintsil stated on his X (formerly Twitter) page, “Not the results we wanted today but that’s some positive reaction from the entire team. Looking forward to the next one.”
Paintsil has started the new campaign slowly while dealing with injuries that forced him to miss Ghana’s Black Stars 2023 AFCON qualifier against Central African Republic.
