Arsenal Football Club manager Mikel Arteta has reacted after Charles Sagoe Junior played his debut game at the senior level with The Gunners.
Sagoe Jnr. played 68 minutes in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup mere months after signing his first professional contract.
The Arsenal Academy product who is of Ghanaian descent through his parents, is a 19 year old attacking midfielder who lined up as a right winger in the narrow win over Brentford.
After the game, Arteta stated to the club’s official media saying, “Every time we can, we have to look in our academy and give chances. Charles was probably one of the most consistent players we had in the under-23s for a few months. I’m really happy that he had a good experience.”
On his part, the London born Sagoe Jnr. said on his X (formerly Twitter) page, “It’s a dream come true to have made my professional debut with Arsenal last night. It’s a proud moment for me and my family and it’s an experience I’ll never forget. Thank you for your support!.”
