Bad preseason played key role in demotion from Premier League- Kotoku Royals CEO

Chief Executive Officer of Kotoku Royals Rush Football Club, Linford Asamoah Boadu, has pinned the team’s quick return to Division One football on a bad run of activities in preseason.

He revealed this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports as Kotoku prepares for life in the Access Bank Division One League that is scheduled to commence in October.

Aside the preseason mishaps, playing away from the team’s base in Oda due to its venue being ruled unfit to host games in the Ghanaian top flight also took its toll on the team.

“We played almost our 34 league games outside our home so we couldn’t enjoy the league because our fans are always away. Also, we had a very bad preparation in the preseason because we changed the coach who qualified us (from Division One) he was an European, he wanted to continue but the demand was so high and we had no option but to change the coach.

I believe we couldn’t get it well with the preseason with recruitment and identification of players but is a big lesson for us.”

Kotoku won just seven games, drew five and lost 22 league ties in the 2022-2023 BetPawa Ghana Premier League season.
