Accra Hearts of Oak recorded their first win of the 2023/24 league season following a slender 1-0 win against Nsoatreman Football Club at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Phobians lost in their opening game against Real Tamale United last weekend at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. They needed to provide a response for the fans who were present at their home grounds.
Hearts took the lead in the 4th minute, very early in the first half through Congolese striker Ramos Kashala Wanet, his first in a rainbow shirt.
Wanet tapped in cooly after his initial effort hit the woodwork, following a cutback pass from Salifu Ibrahim to find his player in the box.
The Phobians held on to the lead in the first half. However, Nsoatreman’s Philip Ofori saw red in the 35minute, reducing Maxwell Konadu’s men to 10 with a few minutes left for the end of the first half.
Konadu’s men will continue the second half of the game with 10 men, struggling to break Hearts of Oak down who had the numerical advantage.
The Phobians, on the other hand, failed to capitalize on the numerical advantage and fluffed their lines by wasting several chances created.
Hearts of Oak now sit 12th on the league log with 3 points, behind Bibiani Gold Stars who beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko by two goals to 1 at the Dun’s Park on Saturday
