Citi Sports can confirm that George Afriyie’s disqualification from the 2023 Ghana Football Association (GFA) Elections as an aspirant for the GFA Presidential seat has been upheld by the Appeals Committee of the Elections.

This comes on the back of the Elections Committee for this year’s GFA Elections disqualifying the former GFA Vice President from running for the Presidency.

This ruling was down to two key reasons: Failure to provide the required number of Ghana Football Association members to support your candidate

Failure to meet the requirements to contest the election for the position of GFA President due to having the support of four GFA members after Jeffrey Asare’s endorsement via Victory Warriors FC was rendered invalid. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

George Afriyie appealed the decision prior to the Monday, September 11 deadline but in a six page letter signed by Chairman of the Appeals Committee Agbesi K. Dzakpasu, the committee listed its reason for upholding the decision.
