KRC Genk Technical Director Dimitri De Conde says Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has indicated that he feels good at Genk.
De Conde stated this in an interview with Het Belang van Limburg where he touched on the reason Paintsil’s purported deal with Southampton collapsed.
25 year old Paintsil was heavily tipped to move from the Jupiler Pro League to Southampton following The Saints recent relegation from the English Premier League to the Championship.
After admonishing Southampton’s role in the deal’s collapse, De Conde added Paintsil’s reluctance to Southampton was another factor. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“Joseph had indicated in several conversations that he feels good here and does not see Southampton as the next step in his career.”
Paintsil assisted Andi Zeqiri’s goal in Genk’s 2-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise in the past round of league games. Alieu Fadera replaced Paintsil in the 58th minute.
Former Tema Youth player Paintsil, has a goal and three assists in 10 games in all competitions this season.
Genk takes on Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, September 21.
