The 16th edition of the Mfantsipim-Adisadel Fun Games took place on Saturday, September 9 at the Ghana Armed Forces Sports Complex with Mfantsipim emerging as winners. The event was held under the theme “Beyond the rivalry, uniting through sports.”

The event that brings together old boys of Mfantsipim School and Adisadel College returned after a five year break and former students of the prestigious institutions battled it out in basketball, football, tennis and table tennis.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Co-Chairman of the Mfantsipim-Adisadel Fun Games committee, Kojo Morgan, expressed excitement about the return of the games and the extensive plans geared towards the development of sports for the youth.

“When we have a long break it takes a lot of effort to get things started again we are hoping next year will even be bigger than this. As of now we are constructing an athletic oval and eventually we should have tartan tracks” he said.

“We are not doing this for only Mfantsipim. We are doing it for the whole of Cape Coast in fact you can say the Central Region. We are hoping to attract these young guys because sports facilities are important to the development of talents” he added.

Mfantspim beat defending champions Adisadel College 18-9 to win the event.

The next edition of the Mfantsipim-Adisadel Fun Games is expected to be bigger with the alumni using sports as a tool to promote unity among the schools.
