Ghana and Olympique Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah is calling on his teammates to support each other to get the team out of a dreadful run it is experiencing.
He said this in the aftermath of Lyon’s 0-1 loss to Brest in the French Ligue 1 condemning Lyon to yet another loss to open the 2023-2024 season.
The seven time League champions are yet to register a win this season and ranks 17th on the 18 team league standings with just two points.
Lyon announced Fabio Grosso as its new head coach to replace Laurent Blanc but the change couldn’t inspire Lyon to clinch its first win of the season.
“We need to work as a group because football is a team sport,” said Nuamah, who hit his first senior international goal for the Black Stars earlier this month.
We must support each other off and on the field. That’s how our confidence will return. We know the expectations of the fans. They are always there for us, whether we win or lose” according to Ligue 1.
Nuamah played 58 minutes in the loss to Brest; Lyon takes on Reims next on Sunday, October 1.
