Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has indicated that Thomas Partey’s substitution in an international friendly game against Mexico was pre-determined.

He said this in the post game interview after the Black Stars lost 0-2 to Mexico in the first of two international friendly games.

Ghana takes on United States of America on Wednesday, October 18; the matchup is the second friendly for both countries with USA losing 1-3 to Germany this past weekend.

Partey was substituted ahead of the second half in Ghana’s loss to Mexico and head coach Hughton says the change was set even before the game kicked off.

“Thomas was always going to play 45 minutes. He’s been out injured for three to four weeks… we knew that he was only going to play 45 minutes.”

Partey recovered from an injury to play in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the last round of games before the latest international break.
