Betpawa PLWK4 : Medeama grab first win against Bechem, Dreams share spoils with Hearts

Hearts of Oak’s struggles in the early stages of the Ghana Premier League continued as they were held to a goalless draw by a resolute Dreams FC in a match week four fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Phobians, one of Ghana’s football powerhouses, find themselves in a challenging position with just one victory out of their opening four games in the ongoing season.

Coach Martin Koopman is under increasing pressure as Hearts of Oak have endured two away defeats and managed only one win at home against Nsoatreman this season.

Dreams FC, fresh from their impressive journey to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, displayed the kind of resilience that has taken them to the continental stage.

They proved to be a tough nut to crack for the Ghanaian giants with the game ending in a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This result marks the second consecutive draw for both Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium, reflecting the tight competition in the Ghana Premier League.

Elsewhere in Tamale,

Karela United failed to make it two consecutive home wins as they were held to a goalless draw at the Aliu Mahama Stadium by Great Olympics on Sunday, October 8 2023.

Ibrahim Tanko Shaibu prior to the game was confident of securing all three points but his side failed to unlock the resilient defence of Great Olympics.

The game didn’t produce any goal in either half and both teams had to settle for a point which Annor Walker’s lads would be pleased with because of how difficult it is to play in Tamale. Again, their unbeaten record this season also remains intact.

Karela will feel they deserved to win given how they played and their ambition to make the Aliu Mahama Stadium a fortress.

In Sogakope,

Heart of Lions continues the search for their first win of the season after being held to a goalless draw by Bofoakwa Tano at the WAFA Arena on Sunday.

The game was balanced with chances falling to both sides. Lions dominated the game in the first half but a top-notch save by Kobi in post for Bofoakwa denied the hosts the opener.

At the Dr.Kwame Kyei Sports Complex,

Nations FC were denied their second-ever win in the Ghana Premier League after being held to a stalemate by Legon Cities FC on Sunday.

The premiership debutants came from behind to earn a point as the game ended 1-1 in Abrankese.

Earlier on Saturday, at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park,

Reigning Champions Medeama came from a goal down to beat Bechem United, picking up their first win of the season.

Bechem United scored the first goal in the 27th minute through Cephas Kofi Mantey.

Bechem United will play Legon City in their next league game while Medeama will clash with Nsoatreman.
