Black Stars defender Joseph Aidoo has been ruled out of Ghana’s upcoming international friendly game against the United States of America due to an ankle injury.
The Celta Vigo player suffered the injury in Ghana’s 0-2 loss to Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina. Hirving Lozano and Uriel Antuna scored for Mexico.
Aidoo played just 28 minutes in the game after starting the friendly alongside Nicholas Opoku in a four man backline for the Black Stars.
Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton blamed the artificial turf for Ghana’s struggles in the game and some quarters report Aidoo’s injury is connected to the playing surface.
In his limited time on the pitch, Aidoo won one of three ground duels and touched the ball 18 times while completing 12 of 16 passes.
Celta Vigo takes on Atletico Madrid on October 21 next in La Liga with Celta ranked 18th in the 20 team league standings. Atletico ranks fourth on the league.
Ghana plays USA next on Wednesday, October 18.
