West Ham United’s December 2023-January 2024 schedule has been confirmed with the Hammers set to play three games between January 2 and January 21, 2024.
The schedule means Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus is likely to miss at least three games at the group stage of the 2023 AFCON tournament in Cote D’Ivoire should he get called up to the Black Stars squad.
Ghana has been drawn in Group B with Egypt, Mozambique and Cape Verde; the Black Stars take on Cape Verde on January 14, Egypt on January 18 and Mozambique on January 22.
On the other hand, West Ham is set to play Brighton and Hove Albion at the London Stadium on January 2. Clubs are required to release players called up to compete in FIFA sanctioned competitions 14 days to the first match of the tournament.
An FA Cup third round tie against a yet to be determined opponent will take place before a mid-season break. West Ham returns from the break to play against Sheffield United on January 21 at Bramall Lane.
Depending on how deep Ghana’s run in the tournament is, Kudus could spend more time away from West Ham.
The former Ajax star recently scored his debut Premier League goal in West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle United and helped Ghana qualify to the AFCON for the 10th consecutive time.
