Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed reports of Thomas Partey’s muscle injury and has gone on to state that the Ghanaian midfielder will be out for a few weeks.
He said this in a pre game press conference as The Gunners head into the weekend to take on Sheffield United at The Emirates Stadium.
Partey missed Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Sevilla in Spain in the UEFA Champions League to the reported injury. The win was Arsenal’s second in three games in Europe’s top tier competition.
Speaking on Partey’s injury, Arteta stated, “He’s got a muscle injury and we are expecting him to be out for a few weeks. We don’t really know the extent of it and he has more tests today but he picked up that injury in a training session with the last kick of the ball before Sevilla, so very unfortunate.”
Partey missed at least three weeks to a similar injury but returned to play limited minutes in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over defending EPL champions Manchester City.
