Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been included in Arsenal FC’s travelling party to France to play RC Lens in the second round of group stage games in the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League season.
Partey returned to training after recovering from a reported groin injury earlier this week boosting Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s midfield options for the French encounter. (Click highlighted text to read full text)
Speaking on Partey ahead of the game, Arteta stated, “He’s progressed really well in the last two weeks and he managed to train in the last two or three days with the team and that’s great news for us obviously.
“I think his progression in the last week has been very good. He might have some exposure tomorrow depending how the game goes” according to British media outlet, The Standard.
Arsenal marked its return to the Champions League after six years with a 4-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the previous game.
Fellow Ghana midfielder Salis Abdul Samed is in line to play for RC Lens in tonight’s game that kicks off at 19:00 GMT. Samed lasted the entire duration of Lens’ 1-1 draw with Sevilla in Game One of the Champions League.
Partey missed the game due to the aforementioned injury and EPL games against the likes of Everton and Bournemouth.
