We are very much looking forward to it- Chris Hughton states after 2023 AFCON Draw

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has reacted to the 2023 AFCON Draw that has pitted Ghana against record winners Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique in Group B.

Speaking on the Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s official media channel, Hughton spoke about his “lack of knowledge” of Mozambique and Cape Verde. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“The first thing you think about is the competition that you are very much looking forward to. Whenever that the group comes out, I think you always look at it, it could have been better for us but of course you also have to look at it, it could have been worse so it’s one that we are very much looking forward to.”

Ghana has familiarity with Egypt and Cape Verde with the Black Stars losing 0-1 to Egypt in the 2010 AFCON Final in Angola.

The Black Stars recorded one of its biggest wins via a 6-1 victory in 2013 en route to qualifying to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana beat Cape Verde 2-0 at the 2013 AFCON at the quarterfinal stage.
