Abdul Mumin’s fine form gets rewarded with debut “Chris Hughton” Black Stars call up

Rayo Vallecano defender Abdul Mumin has been called to the Black Stars in the latest iteration of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team.

The call up bookends the former FC Norsdjaelland player’s fine run for the La Liga side with the young defender being one of the biggest story lines from Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton’s squad.

Aside Mumin, Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew’s call up has generated a ton of interest since the veteran player is a free agent and has been without a club since the start of the 2023-2024 season in August.

Mumin scored his first ever goal for Rayo since he joined the Spanish club from Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes before the start of the 2022-2023 season.

The 25 year old slammed home from just inside the penalty box for his debut goal in La Liga in Rayo’s 2-2 draw with Real Sociedad off a set piece.

He followed it up with a sterling performance in a goalless draw against Real Madrid and frustrated Madrid’s highly rated Brazilian attacker Vinicius Jnr.
