Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club head coach Martin Koopman says he needs his players to showcase the fighting spirit of the club in the aftermath of Hearts’ second win of the season.
He said this in a post game interview after Hearts recorded a 3-1 win over defending BetPawa Premier League champions Medeama Sporting Club at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Two goals from Hamzah Issah and an own goal gave Hearts its biggest win of the 2023-2024 season and an end to a run of three straight draws.
While praising the quality in his side, the Dutch coach pointed out that he needed his young team to show more fight in games to make them an elite side.
“All my players can play football now what I need is fighting spirit in the game. If you have fighting spirit with this team, you can get a lot of points so hopefully we can continue to do this.”
Hearts has moved from 16th to 13th in the 18 team league standings with the win; the Phobians take on Karela United in Tamale next on Saturday, November 4.
