President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Ben Nunoo-Mensah, has admonished most sports federations in Ghana for not making themselves attractive.
He said this in his speech at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and National Service Secretariat (NSS) over the deployment of NSS personnel to sports federations in Ghana to aid in the administration and development of such federations.
The initiative, championed by Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif, aims to aid sports federations in “positioning, promotion and marketing”.
“Now national sports federations can have officers who would effectively manage their office that is something our national sports federations have lacked so now they can have people who can create a brand for them. The challenge we have with most of our national sports federations is that they don’t make themselves attractive so they are not able to get sponsors.”
“I think that if we can take advantage of these personnel that are going to be posted to us and now starting branding our sports federations, it will be very easy for most of us to be able to attract sponsors in other words to help our athletes.”
