Euronews Albania Journalist Enriko Gabaj says Black Stars forward Raphael Dwamena’s shock passing raises a big red flag about the Albanian health authorities.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after the passing of the former Real Zaragoza and Levante striker was confirmed.

Dwamena was in action for Egnatia Rrogozhine in a league match against Partizani in Egnatia’s 13th league game of the season.

The 28 year old had been diagnosed with a heart condition in 2017 that required him to him have implantable cardioverter-defribillator (ICD).

However, he collapsed in an Austrian lower tier league game in 2021 and his move to Danish side Velje fell through due to concerns over his heart condition.

In light of his concerning medical background, Gabaj says the unfortunate incident to Dwamena is a big question for the health authorities in the European country.

“He had health problems and now he has had a heart attack in Albania so this is something that is a big question for the authorities because we must know from the doctors what really happened and what happened with his tests too so in the near hours maybe we will really understand what the problem is but now this is the big question; how did Dwamena pass the medical tests in Albania and fail the tests made in other countries.”

The tragic incident happened in the 23rd minute when Dwamena collapsed on the pitch and was confirmed dead at the hospital.

The game was abandoned at a time Egnatia was being held to a 1-1 draw; the team leads the 10 team league though it is tied on 27 points with second placed Partizani.
